Awesome Day

We met our friends Jenny and Max from playgroup at Barnes and Noble for story time.

The boys had fun playing and singing. And I got my Starbucks fix times 2! Now that I am the proud owner of a Starbucks Gold Card I get free refills!

Something tells me this is going to be a very productive afternoon!

Lunch with an old buddy, target, picking out new tile for our bathroom reno, picking up a large monogram order for James and hopefully finalizing the furniture order for the new chapter room for the girls at American!

I may even pick up some low VOC paint for the laundry room as the new washer and dryer set we ordered didn't fit-so I have a few more days to add a pop of color to the room (and mounds of laundry piling up).

Pure Geniuses or Purely Ridiculous

I've been trying to get in as much physical activity as my unpredictable new mommy schedule will allow.

I registered for the DC Color Runs this fall as an inspiration to actually follow through with the couch 2 5K plan. Now to actually get running. James and Molly accompany me on my morning outings. I try to time it so James will take his first morning nap while we are strollin and it's not yet 1,000 degrees.

Molly loves going out on walks, but my 12 year old beagle baby isn't up for 5K training. I don't feel like taking her to daycare so I can ramble around the neighborhood, so today when she was completely tuckered out about 1/4 of the way into our walk/run. I jimmy rigged my baby jogger so she could ride along on the handle bar-ha!

She freakin loved it.

I feel like this break through is along the same lines of discovering I could wear pajama pants to my early morning classes in college. Seems like an ingenious idea at the time, but you look back at yourself and ask why, why, why?

One of my sorority sisters had a similar moment, and reflected on Facebook this weekend when she got a mani pedi at Walmart. A convenient way to get everything done on limited new mommy time or slightly ghetto she asked. I say get it in when and where you can, but then again, I'm going to pick up a double jogging stroller tomorrow so I can push my dog next to my baby in a stroller.

Salt Water and Sun

Growing up in Florida meant growing up in the water. There is in fact no place where I am happier than at the beach. The smell of the ocean, the sand between my toes, the sea breeze blowing on my face, the sound of the waves meeting the shore. I love every aspect of being at the beach.

Living in Northern Virginia, we don't get to log that much beach time. When Josh's co-worker invited us to his beach house in Maryland this past weekend, we were excited to go. Life at the beach is so much better, I just love it. I was thrilled we got to introduce James to the water, and enjoyed our day on the Chesapeake.

He loved being out on the boat.

As did I.

He was overdue for a nap, when we brought him to the pool to cool off after being on the boat.

He was not a fan at first.

But warmed up some.

And Eventually really enjoyed himself.

We are looking forward to much more pool and beach time this summer.

Kick Off to the Weekend

Nothing like your dyer catching on fire to kick off your weekend.  We are all fine and were paid a visit by some very handsome firemen.

My somehow manageable to-do list for today is thrown off to say the least.  Who wants to go to the laundry mat in super hot temps with a baby?  Not me!

Well at least momma gets a new washer and dryer =)

Any recommendations?  We've had front loaders in the past, but now a top loader washer-which I actually like better than the old (newer) front loader.  I would love the extra "workspace" that having a front loader would bring to our laundry closet/room.  But clean clothes is the objective.

We are just adding the shopping, buying and delivery of a new washer and dryer to our weekend plans, which involve a date night AND Beach Trip.

New Washer and Dryer, Sun and Sand, Dinner and Drinks-not sure what more I could ask for, well maybe lots of Hugs and Kisses.

Hanging around

We're having a little work done in our place, so James and i have been hanging out at home this week.

Gosh I love this little guy, he is just so much fun!

We've been reading, singing and hanging in the excersaucer (which means I actually get to unload the dishwasher).

Josh and I had make your own pizza last night, so much fun!
It's so nice to have him home for more than a few days at a time, we've been enjoying lots of great dinners together.

I'm looking forward to leftovers for lunch today.

Make your own pizza is a big fav among our friends, we are looking to a big beach vacation with them all later this summer, I can't wait for some major beach time!

Fathers Day

So glad that I have a great dad and so does my son!

The day every girl dreams of, having her dad walk her down the aisle.

James, Molly and I are having fun celebrating Josh's first Father's Day!

4 Months Old

As each month passes, I keep asking myself how could it be that my baby is getting so big, so fast?

At your 4 month appointment you weighed 15 pounds, 3 ounces (50th percentile) 26 1/2 inches tall (95th percentile).

You nurse four times a day and get a 7 ounce bottle at night.

This past month you helped me celebrate my first mothers day. I'm looking forward to many more to come.

You discovered your toes.

You rolled over front to back.

You are actually quite the wiggle worm. In the mornings your head is usually on the other end of the crib than we layer you down on. I'll attribute your dexterity to sleeping swaddle free these days.

Dropping the swaddle... I didn't realize dropping the swaddle meant restarting sleep training. Actually you still sleep through the night like a champ. We've actually moved your bedtime from 7:30 to 6:30. You sleep for 13 hours at night, waking between 7 and 8 in the morning. I miss you at night, so I do what any good mom would do and watch you on the baby monitor---all night!

We had some serious struggles with napping without the swaddle. I have been so torn with how to approach your naps, dreading the screams that would sometimes follow me laying you down. Our compromise is me sitting in the glider while you fall asleep In your crib so you can see me. Fewer tears for James makes a much happier mommy.

You are so so happy and spend most of your day screeching in delight and laughing! I love having fun with you.

With all the cool toys you have, your favorite thing is you burp cloth, you would play with one all day.

I unknowingly posted a picture of you giving Facebook the bird, but you were so cute, I didn't take it down.

You have so much fun meeting people, you haven't met a stranger.

We've been going on lots of walks and you have fun running around town with me.

You love taking baths every night.

Your Nanny came to visit and you had so much fun with her.

You LOVE your daddy. When he comes home from work you get so excited. He makes you laugh so hard and loud.

You also took your first trip with me and daddy to NYC.

We spend a lot of time singing and reading together. Your favorite song right now is The Wheels on the Bus. I've made it into a hybrid of the wheels on the bus and old McDonald had a farm. A favorite line is the monkeys on the bus go ah ah ah.

It's fun being silly with you!

You have times of the day you talk nonstop and others you just stare at everything around you in silent amazement.

Daddy calls you Coo Man and I, my sweet boy.

Being your mother is truly an adventure. Your laugh and smile instantly make me forget how overwhelming things can get. I can't wait for all the fun that lies ahead!

A day in the park

Things are just returning to normal after our trip to NYC last weekend. It was our first time away from home with our little man. Josh was the best man in his friends wedding (which was amazing). While he performed wedding party duties, we sent some time in Central Park.

I love Central Park, and have been able to sneak in a visit every trip we've made to the big apple. This time was no different.

On the way in, we stopped at Laduree for macaroons. I have to say my favorite flavor was the rose petal, followed closely by carmel.

We had a fantastic brunch at the boathouse, and enjoyed strolling the park.

The sky was overcast and it sprinkled on and off which made our walk cool and pleasant. The sun finally burned through the clouds as we made our way through the zoo. A quit trip to Starbucks for iced coffee was the perfect ending to our little adventure in the city.
