Looks Like We Made It

Two years of wedded bliss!

We celebrated over a fantastic meal at Two Urban Licks in Atlanta's Virginia Highland area.

My cool view!

We shared our favorite memories spent together.
Mine: spending the night in our new house together in Virginia before our movers arrived with our furniture. We celebrated New Years Eve with some bubbly, take out Chinese and slept on an air mattress.
His: adopting our precarious beagle, Molly. With a little more time to reflect he would probably add getting a king size bed, which in fact is the happiest moment of his life because he now gets a quarter of a king vs a quarter of a queen.

It's about time to shut down all electronic devices, I'm sitting next to my sweets and ready to depart on life's next journey!

I've made it...

To another weekend at least. The past month of my life has been a total blurr. I knew my new job would kick my butt, I just never knew how hard or what it would fell like to pull these kind of hours. I have never worked this long or hard or been in a total state of confusion like I have these past few weeks.

Man, I'm tired.

I was ready to throw in the towel more times than I can even count. My calls to Josh were totally fruitless. He had no sympathy being oceans and timezones far away. But I've made it this far and am going to keep on keeping on. Eventually my life will return to some sort of order, or else I just don't know what I will do with myself.

I've never been days/weeks behind on emails-gchat? I don't think I've done that in months. My emailing is done at redlights at best. Communication by traffic signal, it's truly survival.

I told my former boss, the paycheck is greener, but the grass is not. Maybe it's starting to turn a corner ( I'm hoping at least). I do know it's going to get worse before it gets better, but at least I have a trip to Greece in the mean time to look forward to.

Sitting on my porch with a glass of vino tonight helped, plus I have a few hours before I hit the hay to start planning out my garden this year.

I will be starting late because of our trip to Greece. A pansy or two or four survived the winter. So I will enjoy them and refresh my soil before planting my summer plants.

Whoever thought a highlight of my life would involve compost?

Ahh, organic vegetable gardening, my favorite class in college and now my favorite pastime.

April Showers

Via
Bring May Flowers
.

The birds are chirping out side my window and the cherry blossoms are in bloom!  Spring has sprung and now it's time to shift our wardrobes to bright fun colors.  Some of the outfits I have picked to celebrate the season have been inspired from Talbot's Spring Line!

I paired the Aubrey Sweater pictured above with the Geranium picnic skirt below - throw on my new nude peep toe pumps with a little bow and I am welcoming spring with open arms!

This beautiful peachy pink dress, I already wore when I was in Georgia a few weeks ago, and have plans for it to be my Easter dress and to wear it to a few upcoming showers and parties!

I just love everything Talbot's has to offer this spring.  I hope my friends in the area can join me next Thursday, April 14 at the Tysons Corner location for a fun spring event I'm hosting-please send me an email if you would like to come!!

I've been eyeing this look as well-perfect dressed up...
or down...what have you been looking to add to your wardrobe this spring?

All in a Weeks Time

It was just last week that I was reflecting on how my life was turning out just how I had wanted it to be.
Married to the most amazing guy - check
Moving and Groovin on a great career path - check
Packed social calendar-check

On Tuesday I was lunching with my bestie Lacey at Nordstroms, were we were talking about the amazing career opportunities that had come our ways in the past few months (I'm starting an amazing new job in Mid-April), decorating our homes, and the Spring Fashion Event I'm hosting at Talbots on April, 14th (save the date my DC and NOVA Friends)!

Later that night I lead a Junior League Project, which was beyond fun.  My Tuesday nights are always a rewarding experience if not the highlight of my week hosting a reading club with adults with mental disabilities.  The joy I'm able to share with these guys is beyond anything that I could even begin to explain.

Wednesday another busy day at the office followed by an incredible Hot Yoga session which is my new obsession.

Thursday a wonderful reception for Josh's high school at the Old Ebbitt Grill across the street from the White House.  I had a blast meeting some of his classmates and an even considering transferring to the Junior League of Northern Virginia, I know all my DC leaguer's are shuttering at the thought.  As we were headed to get our car from valet, we randomly ran into good friends from Florida.  I finally felt a little connected in the Big City, small town that is DC.

Although DC is beginning to feel more like home and as I feel more connected here, I loose more and more of my connection to Florida everyday, which is a little heartbreaking for me.

As my career grows it means I grow...older...and so do my parents.  It's a struggle to feel disconnected from them when I want to be there as they face health obstacles that seem to develop from nowhere.  I'm ready for the well worn path to and from the Mayo Clinic and Florida South from my parents front door to be the path less taken.

Another Tuesday, another lunch at Nordstroms, another chance to solve life's problems and maybe get a new spring outfit...

We've become that couple

That meets for dates in the airport. My flight arrived at 9:00 pm, his left a little after 10. Perfect for a quick bite and a debriefing of the weekend. As glamourous as it sounds Josh is in a different country every week, and I just trapes around the southeastern seaboard. I have to say being a good wife, daughter, volunteer and employee has caught up to me. When it rains it pours some good (amazing good) some bad (sad/scary bad) has happened all at the same time. Undoubtedly Gods hands are on me and everything that is happening in my life, and no matter what continent he is on I have the most amazing best friend and life partner I am on this journey with.

Meet you at Gate 39B, I'll be the one with the Vera Bradley roller bag.

In The News

Well look-y-loo all that sorting donations made the news.  Too bad they didn't highlight my favorite item - fringed lampshades-  They are going to be all the rage I tell ya!

Seriously if you are in town, you should totally check out this year's Junior League of Washington Tossed and Found!

A Touch of Ireland

Wishing you a rainbow
For sunlight after showers—
Miles and miles of Irish smiles
For golden happy hours—
Shamrocks at your doorway
For luck and laughter too,
And a host of friends that never ends
Each day your whole life through!

A sweet Irish Blessing, but what I'm really wishing for you is a Shamrock Shake, lots of green beer, that your first rounds picks from your bracket win today, and a few daffodils straight from the fields of Ireland!

I had my friend Jamie over for dinner on Sunday night.  I had picked up three dozen daffodils earlier in the day and was telling her how I would love to be able to enjoy fresh flowers while I was at work AND at home-but it seemed kind of silly to bring them back and forth, and a little too much to buy fresh bouquets for both my home and office each week.

On Tuesday one of my consultants surprised me with a beautiful bouquet of bright yellow daffodils, I told her exactly what I shared with my friend on Sunday night and that I had a bouquet sitting on my dining room table at home.  It must have been the luck of the Irish!

Glad to share "A Touch of Ireland" with you today, and the first blooms of springtime at my house this morning!
