Like kissing on the side of the road...
Or dancing the night away on a vacation...
We have already been thinking about this, or at least I have. Since I've already read What to Expect Before You're Expecting, and subjected my husband to reading a paragraph or 200 out loud, much to his dismay and shouts of objection-ha!
"Stop."
" I didn't need to know that."
and
"I'm not listening to you anymore."
May have been said a time or 200.
The next obvious step is doing all the things the book says to do, AND all the things we want to do before...baby.
My list so far is mostly just travel:
- Planning a Big Europe Trip for next spring/summer
- Try to get out to California Wine Country (although I don't mind Virginia Wine Country)
- Go to way too many Gator Games (unlike the three we are going to this year)
So I've started forming our Cradle List, but I'm curious what's on yours?
And for all my mommy friends, what would you have done pre-baby now that you know what life is like with a bundle of joy?
Mine is spend Christmas away on vacation instead at home spending $$ on random gifts. And.. guess what? We're doing it this year! Me, Brad and my rents are going to the Bahamas!
ReplyDeleteRead read read! I am just now able to get lost in a book (at 9 or 10pm mind you) now that my son is 2 and a half. If you like reading, do a lot of it now because I found it tough after the fact. Cherish your manicures--those went out the door fast since all that diaper induced handwashing cut down my normal 7-10 day lasting mani to about 3 tops! And yes, take a trip! A big, romantic, fancy TRIP! Have fun Europe-planning!
ReplyDeleteThis is a GREAT post idea! I've never heard it called a Cradle List. First - did that book not just make you crazy??? I wasn't a fan. It scared me silly. I have CA Wine Country on my list, too. And Italy. I don't know if any of those will be crossed off pre-baby, but it's fun to think about!
ReplyDeleteSarah - I had never thought specifically about a "Cradle List" but it makes perfect sense! The Europe trip is on my list, and will probably happen Fall 2012 - I am thinking Ireland. Do you think you can predict when someone's going to have a baby by when they go on a big Europe trip? I would like to golf quite a bit more too! And of course there is the boring things like finishing grad school and getting my PE license...
ReplyDeleteAnd learning proper grammar... *are the boring things...
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have waited!! That's what I would have done differently. Now that she's here, I wish I would have had her sooner. She's amazing and beautiful and there is nothing in the world that I would need to do instead of having her here snugglnig with me.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Suzanne. We waited until we could afford me being a SAHM, but every day longer than that felt like a year. You'll know when you're ready- it will be all you can think about. And now, nothing in the world seems more appealing than being with my boys. Europe, Gator games all pale in comparison to hearing Holder say "Momma" or rocking sweet Miller to sleep. I don't think I knew what true love felt like until I had kids.
ReplyDeleteI am with Aja...you will know when the time is right to start your family. Since we were told that we might never have kids, the doctors advised us to start trying right away. P was born 3 weeks before our 1st anniversary so we have never known life a different way. We now keep a list of things we want to do with our boys...they are great travelers and love to see new things so it is so fun to take them places. Just enjoy each little stage!
ReplyDeleteI am a huuuge proponent of the baby bucket list! My list also includes lots of travel (specifically Costa Rico and Italy). CA wine country is on my list too :)
ReplyDeleteI would definitely go on as many vacation as humanely possible. I am liking the baby bucket list. Many I can do a baby#2 bucket list and do all the thins I want to do before we have another? Just an idea! Love the post and blog! Have a great Sunday!
ReplyDeleteOh and if you get a chance at all today could you come stop by and help me win this Susan G. Komen bake for the cure contest. I need as many comments as I can get on each bake for the cure posts. I would really really appreciate your help! Love ya
